The Sacraments

An efficacious sign of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us through the work of the Holy Spirit (CC #774, #1131). The sacraments (called “mysteries” in the Eastern Churches) are seven in number:

Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Penance or Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony (CC #1210).

Baptism

Baptism is celebrated on either Saturday or Sunday with a Mass and/or without a Mass upon completion of the baptismal preparation process.

For more information, please email us at secretary@canadianmartyrsparish.ca or call 403 284 3311.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is offered on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. or by appointment.

To register for First Reconciliation preparation program, we ask that your child is at least in 2nd grade. The program culminates with the celebration of your child’s First Reconciliation during Advent.

For more information, please email us at secretary@canadianmartyrsparish.ca

Eucharist

To register for First Eucharist, we ask that your child is at least in 2nd grade and has already received the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  The program culminates with the celebration typically during the month of May.

For more information, please email us at secretary@canadianmartyrsparish.ca.

Confirmation

Children in grade 6 and up can register for the preparation of Sacrament of Confirmation if they have been baptized or made the Profession of Faith in the Catholic Church, have made First Reconciliation, and have received First Holy Communion.

Marriage

The Church actively seeks to do all it can to assist you in preparing for marriage. With sufficient time to begin making arrangements, an engaged couple has better opportunity to prepare seriously for marriage and its beginning in the Marriage Liturgy.

Preparation begins with an initial meeting with a priest who will give you an overview of the requirements for marriage and the preparation required. To schedule an appointment or to gather more information, please call 403 284 3311 or email us at secretary@canadianmartyrsparish.ca.

Holy Orders

If you think you might be called to Priestly life, pray about it and contact our Diocesan Director for Vocations, Fr. Cristino Bouvette at 403-218-5500, or e-mail cristino.bouvette@calgarydiocese.ca.
